Severn Stars Netball are pleased to announce Chloe Essam and Rachael Fee will be joining the franchise this season as additional training partners following the departure of Wasps Netball from the Netball Super League.

To ensure that Wasps signed players were given the opportunity to compete in the 2023 season, England Netball reopened the signing window to allow players to be signed as training partners to other franchises. Chloe and Rachael are able to take to court as replacement players within the existing EN Super league competitive regulations.

Claire Sanders, General Manager for Severn Stars said “We were all saddened by the news from Wasps Netball and the implications for coaches, staff, volunteers, fans and especially the players. We were keen to offer support to ensure players retained an opportunity to train and play at NSL level this season. Severn Stars have worked closely with Netball West Midlands Regional Board over the last month to make it possible for these elite players to join the franchise. Thanks must go to Netball West Midlands, we simply couldn’t have managed this without their preparedness to support the process involved. Netball West Midlands will become player sponsors for both players for the 2023 season. Chloe and Rachael have stepped straight into NSL squad training and we’re happy to welcome them.”

Kerrie Jones, Chair Netball West Midlands said “We are very pleased to be supporting Chloe and Rachael so that they can continue their netball journey with Severn Stars. We look forward to seeing them develop and progress over the next few months and beyond.”

“I’m really excited to have two talented young athletes joining us this season. Their NSL experience and excellent training ethic adds another boost to our squad and training environment. Both athletes have slotted in seamlessly and look forward to working with them this season.” Jo Trip, Head Coach
